Units

The Units codebook defines measurement units used for materials consumption and their conversions. This lets Deratix add consumption correctly even when the same material is entered in different units.

Why conversions matter

If one job uses 2 liters of a product and another uses 500 milliliters, Deratix needs to know that 1 liter = 1000 milliliters. It can then calculate total consumption as 2500 ml or 2.5 l.

Tip: Conversions are mainly used in material consumption statistics. Without type and conversion, units are not added automatically.

Where units are used

Units are used with materials in the protocol form. The technician enters quantity and unit, such as 2 l or 500 ml.

Deratix then:

  • shows the selected unit in the protocol and PDF,
  • uses the conversion in statistics,
  • preserves older text-based units in older protocols.

Fields

FieldDescriptionRequired
AbbreviationShort unit notation, such as g, ml, or pcsYes
NameFull name, such as gram, milliliter, or pieceYes
TypeUnit category, such as weight, volume, or countNo
ConversionHow many base units are contained in 1 of this unitNo

Unit types

TypeBase unitExamples
Weightgmg, g, kg
Volumemlml, l
Countpcspcs, pack, dose
Lengthmmmm, cm, m
Areacm², m²
Space volume

The type determines which units can be converted between each other.

How conversion works

Conversion states how many base units are contained in one entered unit.

UnitTypeConversionMeaning
kgWeight10001 kg = 1000 g
mgWeight0.0011 mg = 0.001 g
lVolume10001 l = 1000 ml
cmLength101 cm = 10 mm
mLength10001 m = 1000 mm

Base units such as g, ml, pcs, mm, m², and m³ have conversion 1.

Editing a unit

Click the ✏️ icon next to a unit. In the dialog, you can edit abbreviation, name, type, conversion, and status.

Note: Unit changes apply to future selections. Existing protocols remain stored with their original data.

Tips

Tip: Add only units that technicians actually use. A shorter list is faster to use in the form.

Tip: Fill in type and conversion for new units if you want reliable consumption totals.
